Nepal Police has busted an online betting racket worth more than Rs 3 billion and arrested 24 people including 10 Indian nationals. According to Superintendent of Police Kaji Kumar Acharya of Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, based on a tip-off, a special police team raided two houses in the Sanepa area of ​​Lalitpur metropolis on Saturday and arrested 10 Indian nationals and 14 Nepali nationals who were found duping people in the name of online gaming.

The 10 Indians arrested include Ajit Kumar, Mukesh Mandal, Manoj Kumar Bajaj, Sumit Khatri, Prabhat Kumar Sah, Om Prakash Khatri, Ravi Prakash Vishwakarma, Ravi Abhishek Ojha, Shivam Pandey and Manoj Kumar.

Most of the people arrested are from UP.

Kazi Kumar Acharya said that most of the arrested people are from Uttar Pradesh. The accused were running illegal online betting from two rented houses in Sanepa, Lalitpur. Police said that a preliminary investigation revealed that they had made transactions worth 3,047,356,612 Nepalese rupees. 57 mobile phones, 13 laptops, 34 ATM cards from various banks, 88 SIM cards, 12 checkbooks, eight Aadhaar cards, and six passports have also been seized from the accused.

Earlier, in Nepal's Rupandehi district, the police busted a large-scale online betting racket and arrested 14 Indian citizens. The raid took place at Asfaq Alam's house in Saguni Path, where the accused were secretly operating online gambling. Rupandehi Police Information Officer DSP Naveen Paudel said that the police had received secret information that some people were running illegal betting and gambling through online platforms.
