Ministers of 17 countries held a meeting in Saudi and made a plan to shock Russia and Iran.

Ministers from 17 Middle East and Western countries have met in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to discuss the changing situation in Syria. During this meeting, discussions were held on rebuilding Syria and helping the government, as well as pressuring the interim government to run an administration representing all religions and ethnic groups.
After this meeting, the Saudi foreign minister urged to lift the sanctions imposed on Syria. Since the new regime, there has been a demand from Syria to lift the sanctions and for the safe return of Syrian refugees to other countries.
A special thing about this meeting was that Russia and Iran were not invited to it. Although both of them were strong allies of Syria during the rule of Bashar al-Assad. Syria's Foreign Minister Asad al-Shibani was also present at this meeting. Last week, the US eased sanctions on emergency humanitarian aid and some energy supplies, after which Qatar sent a sea tanker of gas to Syria on Sunday.
There is a fight between Saudi Arabia and Iran for supremacy in the Middle East. The hosting of this conference by Saudi Arabia is also considered important because it shows that Riyadh wants to play a leading role along with Turkey and Qatar in the reconstruction of Syria. Let us tell you, during the Assad regime, Saudi Arabia has supported anti-Assad groups.
Western and Sunni countries came together.
Ministers from the EU and Western countries also attended this conference, which shows that these countries want to pursue their interests in Syria by keeping Iran and Russia away. US Deputy Foreign Minister John Bass, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock and British Foreign Secretary David Lammy also participated in the conference. Talking about Muslim countries, foreign ministers of countries like Saudi Arabia, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey participated.
Helping Syria is not easy
Even before the Western foreign ministers attend the meeting, many Gulf countries have started helping the Syrian government. The continued designation of HTS as a terrorist organization has made it impossible for Syrian funds in foreign banks to be accessed. If HTS is removed from the list of terrorist organizations and sanctions imposed on Syria are lifted, Syria's path to progress will become easier.
US President Joe Biden has left the decision to remove HTS from the list of terrorist organizations to Trump. While Shara has said that he will disband the organization.
