Korean Central Television (KCTV) prominently showed a video clip in which Kim is seen with a young boy and girl. She was going to an event on New Year's Eve. Korean media is saying that Kim was with her children.

First time seen as a mother

Kim Yo Jong has been seen in public wearing a wedding ring for a decade, but this is the first time that state media has shown Kim Yo Jong as a mother. State media usually does not provide information about the background and personal life of top officials.

But Kim Jong Un has spoken openly in recent years. He has admitted his and the party's policy failures. It is likely that Kim Yo Jong will someday grant her children specific positions in the government based on their lineage. She may also use her position to promote them. Kim Yo Jong officially serves as deputy director of the WPK Central Committee Propaganda and Agitation Department (PAD).
