Karnal student murdered in Australia, Melbourne police searching for two youths from Haryana

Australian police are searching for two brothers from Haryana who stabbed an Indian-origin student to death in Melbourne on Sunday morning. Let us tell you that the deceased MTech student Navjeet Sandhu (22) was a resident of Karnal, Haryana. According to the information, Sandhu had tried to intervene in the dispute between Indian students on the issue of rent.

Police said that brothers Abhijeet (26) and Robin Garton (27) are being searched in the murder case. In the media report, Detective Inspector Dean Thomas of the Homicide Squad was quoted as saying that the accused brothers were drinking alcohol at a party. Inspector Thomas said there were some fights throughout the evening, then a dispute broke out just before 1 am. During this period two people were stabbed.

Dispute regarding rent

Meanwhile, Navjeet Sandhu's relatives in India said that the fight happened due to some disagreement over rent as all the students involved lived in the same house. Navjeet's friend (another Indian student) had asked him to go to his house to collect his belongings as he had a car. When his friend went inside, Navjeet heard some screams and saw that there was a scuffle going on.

According to the report of Press Trust of India, Navjeet had gone to Australia one and a half years ago on an education visa and his farmer father had sold one and a half acres of his land for his education. The family has urged the Indian government to bring Navjeet's body as soon as possible. Australian police said the accused Abhijeet and Robin were traveling in a stolen 2014 white Toyota Camry sedan.
