After UN-run school, now Israel airstrikes on Gaza, 18 people killed

More than 36,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli bombing and ground attacks in Gaza over the past eight months. The war has largely blocked the flow of food, medicine, and other supplies to Palestinians struggling with hunger. This has created a situation of famine there.

Israel has attacked central Gaza. At least 18 people were killed in these air strikes, including children. Let us tell you that on Thursday 33 people were killed in a UN-run school, which sheltered displaced Palestinian families. Health officials say that attacks were carried out in Nuseirat and Maghazi refugee camps and Der al-Balah and Jawaida towns. Those killed include four children and a woman and the mayor of the Nuseirat refugee camp.

The Israeli military said on Friday it was continuing operations in parts of central Gaza. It said its troops had killed dozens of militants, discovered tunnel shafts, and destroyed infrastructure in the area.

The attack came a day after at least 33 people were killed at a UN-run school in the Nusserat refugee camp, which Israel said was being used as a Hamas compound.

Israel accused of committing genocide in Gaza

Pressure is mounting for genocide in the war against Hamas. Meanwhile, many countries have announced to recognize Palestine as an independent nation. Spain's foreign minister has announced that it will seek permission from the United Nations court to join South Africa's case accusing Israel of genocide in Gaza.

People are struggling with hunger in Gaza

UN agencies say more than 1 million people in Gaza are facing starvation as of mid-July. Israel launched the war after Hamas' October 7 attack, in which militants raided southern Israel.

It killed about 1,200 people, most of them civilians, and kidnapped about 250. About 80 hostages captured on October 7 are believed to still be alive in Gaza, along with the remains of 43 others.
