Israel did not agree even after the ceasefire! Hezbollah's bases in Beirut were destroyed
Shortly after the ceasefire was announced, Israel launched a fierce attack in Beirut. The IDF destroyed many Hezbollah bases. Shortly before the attack, Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu had announced a ceasefire with Hezbollah. US President Joe Biden expressed happiness over Israel's decision. He called it a good news.
Biden said that Israel and Hezbollah have agreed on a ceasefire deal. But shortly after his statement, a massive explosion took place in Beirut. Israeli airstrikes shook the capital of Lebanon.
Israel attacks in Beirut before ceasefire
Israel has declared a ceasefire but its aim is to continue attacking Hezbollah before it comes into effect. The ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah can come into effect from 4 am local time on Wednesday. Netanyahu said that he is ready to make a deal with Lebanon, but if Hezbollah violates it in any way, he will give a strong response to it.
The Israeli PM said that he would send a ceasefire proposal with Hezbollah to his cabinet for approval. However, he did not say how long this ceasefire would last. Netanyahu said that if Hezbollah violates the ceasefire agreement, we will attack. However, this agreement will not affect Israel's war against Hamas in Gaza.
So will the 14-month-long war be put to an end?
According to local officials, at least 24 people have been killed across Lebanon in the latest Israeli attacks. This war started after Hamas' attack on Israel on 7 October 2023, which is still going on. The Israel Hezbollah ceasefire will be the first major step towards ending the unrest in that region. After the Hamas attack on October 7, Hezbollah also attacked Israel the next day i.e. on October 8. After this, Israel also started retaliating against Hamas and Hezbollah.
Israel killed many Hezbollah commanders. Hundreds of its hideouts were destroyed. On the other hand, in the nearly 14-month-long war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza, more than 44,000 people have been killed and more than 104,000 have been injured. This is the data of Gaza's Health Ministry.
