The tension between China and Taiwan is not decreasing. Taiwan said on Wednesday that it had detected 53 Chinese military aircraft and 19 ships near the island in the last 24 hours. The arrival of such a large number of military aircraft near Taiwan is considered to be a major maritime activity by Beijing amid years of ongoing tension.

According to the Defense Ministry, aircraft and ships, including 11 warships, were seen in Taiwan's airspace and waters during the 24 hours ending at 6 a.m. on Wednesday. There has been no statement from the Chinese military or Chinese state media about increased military activity in the East China Sea, Taiwan Strait, South China Sea, or the Western Pacific Ocean.

However, China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson said on Tuesday that China considers Taiwan as its territory and will firmly defend its sovereignty.

Big intrusion by China

This is the largest number of aircraft detected in a single day. Earlier, a record 153 aircraft were reported on October 15, when China conducted large-scale military exercises in response to Taiwan President Lai Ching-te's National Day speech. The Defense Ministry said on Tuesday that 47 Chinese aircraft were seen in Taiwan's airspace as well as 12 Chinese warships in the area around the island.

Taipei said China has recently deployed about 90 ships along the so-called First Island Chain linking Okinawa, Taiwan, and the Philippines, Beijing's biggest maritime exercise yet.

China upset with the friendship with America.

After Lai Ching-te became the President of Taiwan, Taiwan's relations with America strengthened. China has repeatedly protested against this and has warned of increasing its presence in Taiwan's territory.
