The Israel-Palestine dispute has been going on for decades, there seems to be no hope of its quick resolution. Meanwhile, Israel has increased tension with another country. Israel has announced to close its embassy in Dublin.

The Israeli government took this step after Ireland recognized Palestine and supported South Africa's case in the ICJ against the ongoing Israeli attacks in Gaza. Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar has described the Irish government's decisions as anti-Israel.

Ireland crossed the red line - Israel.

The Israeli Foreign Minister has said that Ireland has crossed all the red lines regarding relations with Israel. He has said, 'Israel will invest and prioritize its resources in advancing bilateral relations with those countries around the world that are working in accordance with Israeli interests and values.'

Ireland's Prime Minister Simon Harris condemned Israel's decision and called it extremely regrettable. He said, 'I reject this statement that Ireland is anti-Israel, Ireland is a supporter of peace, humanity, and international laws.' The Irish Prime Minister said that with the 'two-state solution', Ireland wants the people of Israel and Palestine to live in peace and security. He said that Ireland will always advocate human rights and international law, and no one can hinder this.

Why is Israel angry at Ireland?

Last week, Ireland announced its support for South Africa's legal action against Israel at the ICJ (International Court of Justice). Ireland also cited Israel's growing global isolation, its refusal to halt attacks in Gaza, and its illegal occupation of the Palestinian West Bank.

In May this year, Ireland was also among the three European countries that recognized Palestine. Support for Palestine is constantly increasing in Ireland, as about 45 thousand people have died in the Israeli attacks in Gaza since 8 October 2023.

The case against Israel in ICJ

Israel is being accused of genocide for the ongoing attacks in Gaza; South Africa had also accused Israel of this in the ICJ. Just a few days ago, the International Court of Justice issued an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, former Defense Minister Yoav Galant and Hamas leader Mohammad Daif.
