Iran's famous singer sentenced to death for insulting Prophet Muhammad.

Once again, a case of the death penalty has come to the fore in Iran due to its strict religious laws. According to Iranian media, a court in Iran has found famous singer Amir Hussain Maghsoodloo, popularly known as Tataloo, guilty of blasphemy and has sentenced him to death.
Iran's reformist newspaper Etemad reported on Sunday that "the Supreme Court has accepted the prosecutor's objection to the five-year prison sentence given for crimes including blasphemy. After which the case was reopened and the defendant has been sentenced to death for insulting the Prophet." However, the report also said that this decision is not final and can still be appealed against.
Turkey handed over to Iran.
37-year-old singer Tatalu had been living in the Turkish city of Istanbul since 2018. In 2023, the Turkish police handed him over to Iran, after which a case was filed against him under several sections including blasphemy.
Tatalu was also sentenced to 10 years in prison for promoting prostitution and, among other counts, spreading propaganda against the Islamic Republic and publishing obscene material.
However, Iran International said on Sunday that the country's judiciary had denied reports that claimed Tatatalou had been sentenced to death for blasphemy. It said the initial report from the Zam Zam newspaper was denied by the judiciary's media office, which said the final verdict had not yet been issued.
Who is Tatalu?
Known for his combination of rap, pop and R&B, Tataloo is also known for his tattoos on his body. Tataloo has previously been chosen by conservative politicians as a way to reach out to young, liberal Iranians.
Tataloo also held a televised meeting with ultra-conservative Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi in 2017. In 2015, Tataloo released a song in support of Iran's nuclear program.
