Iran is engaged in improving its relations with the US. After the return of the newly elected President Donald Trump, many Iranian leaders have openly advocated improving relations with the US. The American newspaper New York Times quoted US officials, experts as well as an Iranian official as saying that Iran sent a message to the Biden administration in October saying it was not trying to kill Donald Trump, as Tehran was trying to reduce the growing tension with Washington.

Iran sent this message to America through an intermediary. This message from Iran came after Biden's warning that America would treat any attack on Republican candidate Trump as an "act of war".

Trump's anti-Iran team is getting ready

Since Trump's return on November 5, former Iranian officials, pundits, and media outlets have been advocating for a US-Iran deal. There has been no clear message from the US, although Trump's close aide Elon Musk has met the Iranian UN envoy. Also, many of Iran's allies have advocated for more stringent sanctions on Iran and most of the officials in Trump's new cabinet are anti-Iran.

US officials say Iran wants to avenge the death of IRGC commander Major General Qasem Soleimani, who was killed in a US drone attack in 2020. According to Iran, this attack took place on the orders of Trump. Qasem Soleimani is said to be the commander who organized and directed Iranian militias and proxy forces in the Middle East, due to which he was the target of Israel and America.
