The Gaza ceasefire deal was announced on Wednesday from Qatar's capital Doha. After which India welcomed it on Thursday, India had appealed for a ceasefire since the beginning of the war. Indian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal has issued a statement on the ceasefire by posting a post.

The Foreign Ministry statement said, "We welcome the announcement of the agreement for the release of hostages and a ceasefire in Gaza. We hope that this will lead to safe and continuous supply of humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza. We have consistently called for the release of all hostages, a ceasefire and a return to the path of dialogue and diplomacy."

India has appealed to both sides for peace since the beginning of the Gaza war. India has condemned the Hamas attack as well as the heavy bombing on Palestinian civilians. The Indian government has also sent humanitarian aid to Gaza. Be it the UN or any international forum, India has supported the independence of Palestine and has repeatedly called for the implementation of the two-nation agreement.

A ceasefire was declared on Wednesday in the Gaza war that lasted for about 460 days. After which a festive atmosphere was seen among the people of Gaza, while people demonstrating for the return of hostages in Tel Aviv also hugged each other. This war has killed more than 46 thousand Palestinians, while about a thousand Palestinians have been killed in Israeli action since the Hamas attack in the Israeli-occupied West Bank.

Let us tell you that this fight broke out after Hamas's sudden attack on 7 October 2023. In which about 1200 Israelis were killed and about 250 Israeli and foreign citizens were taken hostage.
