External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said on Monday that as the world is going through a complex and changing phase with the changing global order, cooperation between India and the United Arab Emirates will deepen on the international stage. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar left on a three-day visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Monday. The purpose of Jaishankar's visit is to further advance India's comprehensive strategic partnership with an influential Gulf country like the UAE.

Addressing an event organised in Abu Dhabi on India's Republic Day, Jaishankar said the world has entered a complex and volatile phase as the global order is indeed changing. In such circumstances, new opportunities arise and true friendships are forged.

He said that when we look at the global scenario, there are many things that bring the two countries together. I can say with confidence that our cooperation will become stronger on international forums. The minister emphasized that the number of Indians who call the UAE their second home was 25 lakh in 2015, which has now increased to more than 40 lakh.

He said that these numbers reflect the warmth and cordiality that characterizes our relations today. Discussing some of the achievements of bilateral relations, Jaishankar said that the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement has increased trade and investment. The local currency trading system and fintech mechanism have been remarkable. He said that the BAPS Hindu Temple in Abu Dhabi has emerged as a symbol of pluralism, harmony and tolerance.
