What happened in Syria?

The nearly 50-year rule of the Assad family in Syria has come to an end. When the people started a rebellion in 2011, angry with the policies of President Bashar al-Assad, hardly anyone would have thought that this struggle would be so long. When the Assad government adopted a strategy to suppress the opposition movement, it took the form of rebellion and then gradually it turned into a civil war. In 2020, a ceasefire was signed between the rebel groups led by Russia and the Assad government, but after about 4 years, rebel groups led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham once again attacked the Assad government and in just 11 days overthrew the Assad government and captured the capital Damascus.
