Israel and Hamas have agreed on a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the release of hostages. A ceasefire was declared between the two. Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden said that the restoration of peace in West Asia will also benefit the India-Middle East-Europe Corridor (IMEC). He said that the proposed IMEC corridor to go from India to Europe via West Asia can now take a real shape.

The India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor will be a network built for freight transport. It will be a ship-rail transit network. That is, ships and railways will be used primarily for freight transport.

A meeting of 8 countries was held in Delhi.

A meeting was held between eight countries in New Delhi in the year 2023 regarding IMEC. Which included India, America, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, European Union, France, Germany, and Italy. No official figure has been revealed about how much it will cost to prepare this route. In this project, the IMEC corridor project was stopped due to the war that started between Israel and Hamas in October 2023.

China is the biggest challenge in IMEC.

The biggest challenge for this project is China. This project is being seen as a counter to China's Belt and Road Initiative. According to a recent report by the Hudson Institute think-tank, the IMEC initiative helps establish India as a major player in reshaping global supply chains and trade routes.

How will this IMEC be connected

Mundra, Kandla in Gujarat, India and Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust in Navi Mumbai will be connected. After this, it will be connected to Fujairah, Jebel Ali and Abu Dhabi in UAE and Dammam and Ras Al Khair in Saudi Arabia in the Middle East. In Europe, this route will be connected to Piraeus port in Greece, Messina in South Italy and Marseille in France. Its construction will make it easier for all countries in the future.

Through this route, India will be directly connected to its two very important regional partners Jordan and Israel. This will make trade easier from here.
