How did the Titan submarine sink in the sea? The last message was sent before the blast.
The Titan submarine, which used to take people to see the wreck of the Titanic ship, became a victim of a terrible accident last year. A court hearing is going on in South Carolina regarding this accident, which began on September 16 and will continue till September 27. On the first day of the hearing, the US Coast Guard shared the first picture of the wreck of the Titan submarine. In this picture, the rear part of the submarine is seen broken and its edges are torn. A torn piece of the ship can also be seen nearby.
The hearing was told that the Titan submarine had sent a message to the Polar Prince ship one and a half hours before the accident, saying that "everything is fine here." This message was sent when the submarine was at a depth of 3341 meters. 6 seconds later, Titan was pinged for the last time. During this time there was no emergency communication between Titan and Polar Prince. At 10:49 am, Polar Prince sent a message for the first time about losing contact, but there was no response from Titan.
OceanGate's former chief engineer Tony Nissin testified in court. He said that the submarine had many technical problems and he was under pressure to launch it into the deep sea. He also said that Titan was never inspected by a third party, so he did not approve it. After this, he was fired from the company in 2019. OceanGate's former CFO Bonnie Karl also testified and said that she had left the company in 2018 due to security-related problems.
Investigators said that before the accident, Titan was kept in extremely cold temperatures in Newfoundland. According to records, Titan faced 70 technical problems in 2021 and 48 in 2022.
On June 18, 2023, the Titan submarine went missing in the Atlantic Ocean. After four days of search, its wreckage was found 1600 meters away from the Titanic ship. Five people died in this accident, including Oceangate CEO Rush and Pakistani billionaire Prince Dawood.
