Despite the bombing by the US, Israel, and Britain, Houthi attacks in Israel and the Red Sea are not stopping. In the last United Nations Security Council (UNSC) meeting of 2024, Iran was warned for helping the Houthi rebels in Yemen. This meeting was requested by Israel to discuss the attacks of the Houthis on the country.

Israel's UN ambassador Danny Danon demanded that Iran-backed terrorists stop their missile attacks or be ready to face the consequences. He said that this is not a warning, it is a promise, that the Houthis will have the same fate as Hamas and Hezbollah.

Iran rebuked in UN

According to other key member countries, the clashes between Israel and Yemen are a direct result of Iran's actions against Israel. Member countries urged Iran to stop Houthi attacks. US Ambassador Dorothy Shea told the Council, "We can all see clearly that Iran has enabled the Houthis to carry out long-range and lethal attacks on Israel, including civilian infrastructure.

He said, "Iran's supply of arms to the Houthis is a violation of the arms embargo imposed on the group by the UN." The Deputy US Representative also called on the United Nations to strengthen its verification and inspection mechanism on weapons to prevent any illegal smuggling.

Russia and Japan raised the issue of Palestine.

Russia, which is a key member country in the UNSC, also condemned the Houthi attacks. It also said that Israel's action in Gaza is the root cause of the conflict. Russia's permanent representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya said, "We should not ignore the broader context, because many centers of tension today are fueled by Israel's actions against the Palestinians."

Japan's representative to the United Nations also raised the Palestinians' cause, stressing that the Houthis' actions do not help their cause and urging Iran to use its influence to stop the attacks.
