Hamas started the New Year 2025 with an attack on Israel, fired rockets

On the arrival of the New Year 2025, the terrorist group Hamas fired rockets from the Gaza Strip on southern Israel. Sirens sounded in Netivot and surrounding communities, located about 10 kilometers from Gaza. Hamas has claimed responsibility for this and said that the fire was set targeting Netivot. Last year in 2024, on the occasion of the New Year, the terrorist group fired on central Israel.

Actually, the IDF said that some time ago two rockets were fired from the central Gaza Strip on the southern Israeli city of Netivot. According to the army, one rocket was intercepted, while the other rocket fell in an open area. No one is reported to be injured in this attack. Hamas has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Starvation crisis

The conflict between Israel and Hamas has displaced almost the entire population of this area of ​​2.3 million, raising the risk of starvation. The United Nations humanitarian agency (OCHA) says that Israeli authorities allowed only 160 trucks carrying shelter material to enter Gaza between 1 and 26 December 2024.

More than 90 percent of the people were displaced.

Of these, 136 trucks reached northern Gaza and only 24 trucks reached the central and southern regions. The agency has described this amount as a drop in the bucket, as Israel's war has displaced more than 90 percent of Gaza's 2 million people, most of whom are sheltering in temporary tents that do not provide adequate protection from the falling temperatures.

Before the war, an average of 500 trucks of aid including fuel were allowed to pass through Gaza every day.
