While the Labor Party achieved this big achievement, the Conservative Party also got success, the entire credit for which goes to the party MP Shivani Raja.

Indian-origin resident and Conservative Party MP Shivani Raja ended the dominance of the Labour Party from Leicester East, which was known as the stronghold of the Labour Party for 37 years. In this election, Shivani was pitted against Labour Party candidate and former Deputy Mayor of London Rajesh Agarwal, whom Shivani defeated by more than 4 thousand votes. Apart from being the Deputy Mayor, Rajesh has also been the President of London's Trade and Business Growth Agency and he was a strong voice for the business community of London.

This victory after 37 years is a big achievement

Shivani got more than 14,500 votes in this election and Agarwal got 10,100 votes. Raja's victory is being seen as a big achievement. Shivani recently took oath in the British Parliament, where she took oath holding the Bhagavad Gita in one hand. Shivani has shared the video of the time of taking oath on social media, after which she is being liked a lot.


While posting this video, he wrote that it was an honour to take oath in Parliament today to represent Leicester East. I felt proud to take oath on the Gita in front of His Majesty King Charles.

Entry into politics after the year 2022

29-year-old Shivani is of Indian origin, but she is the first generation of her family to be a British citizen. Shivani's parents came to Leicester, England from Kenya in 1970. Shivani was born on 21 July 1994 in Leicester. Despite being raised in Britain, Shivani is still connected to her culture. She comes from a Gujarati family and along with politics, she is also associated with her family business.


Talking about her political journey, Shivani said that she noticed that many people were unhappy with the working of the government and there were riots in Leicester in the year 2022, with the desire to change this, she decided to join politics.

Semi-finalist in the Miss India UK beauty pageant

Shivani's entire childhood was spent in Leicester's Rushey Mead, apart from this, she also did her early education from Herrick Primary School and Soar Valley College. After that, she got a graduation degree in Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic Science from De Montfort University. After graduation, Raja worked with many main leading cosmetic brands in England. In the year 2017, she also participated in the Miss India UK beauty pageant, in which she became a semi-finalist.
