Former US President Bill Clinton's health deteriorates, admitted to hospital.
Former US President Bill Clinton was admitted to Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington on Monday after suffering from a fever. Clinton's deputy chief of staff Angel Urena said in a statement, the former president was admitted to the hospital in the afternoon for tests and monitoring. Urena said he appreciates the care he is receiving.
Bill Clinton is a Democrat who served two terms as president from January 1993 to January 2001. He addressed the Democratic National Convention in Chicago this summer and campaigned for Kamala Harris' White House bid ahead of November's election.
Bill Clinton's health deteriorated several times
In the years since Clinton left the White House, she has faced some health concerns. In 2004, she underwent bypass surgery after suffering from prolonged chest pain and shortness of breath. Clinton returned to the hospital in 2005 for surgery on a partially collapsed lung and had a stent placed in her coronary artery in 2010.
Hospitalizations in California
Clinton lost weight by adopting a largely vegan diet, which significantly improved her health. In 2021, the former president was hospitalized for six days in California to treat an infection.
Clinton has a urine infection
An aide to the former president said then that Clinton had a urine infection that had spread to his bloodstream, but his condition was improving and he never went into septic shock. The aide said Clinton was in the hospital's ICU at the time, but was not receiving care there.
