This post of Maryam Shiuna has created an uproar, there is a lot of anger among the people. Indian social media users have demanded President Muizzu to take strict action against Shiuna. Due to the uproar, Maryam's post has been removed from social media. He has also apologized. By sharing a post she has said that she apologizes for her recent post. He said that he was not aware of this and that whatever happened happened unknowingly. He was told that the picture shared in the post resembles the Indian tricolour. He is sorry for this misunderstanding. He further said that Maldives values its relations with India and respects the country.

Maryam Shiuna posted a post on social media X (earlier Twitter) on Saturday (April 6) gathering support for her party PPM. In whose poster the Ashok Chakra included in the tricolour flag of India was insulted. Targeting the opposition party PPM, he included Ashok Chakra in the poster. He also wrote in his post that MDP is getting trapped in their trap i.e. India but we i.e. Maldives do not need to get trapped in their trap again.

This poster was made by distorting the poster of the opposition party Maldives Democratic Party (MDP). The MDP poster had a compass which was replaced with the Ashoka Chakra included in the tricolor of India. Not only the Ashok Chakra but BJP's election symbol lotus was also included in the poster. The motive behind Maryam Shiuna doing this was to insult India.

Let us tell you that tension has been going on between India and Maldives for some time. This tension started when Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Lakshadweep and shared some pictures on social media praising Lakshadweep. Maldivian officials including Maryam Shiuna had made very derogatory comments against PM Modi and India. This matter had gained a lot of attention. India had expressed strong objection to these comments. Even Boycott Maldives started trending on social media.
