A 7-year-old girl was killed in a knife attack at a school in Croatia's capital Zagreb on Friday. Two teachers and 5 other students were injured in the attack. The attack took place at the Preko Elementary School in the Preko neighborhood of the capital Zagreb. Croatian state broadcaster Hina reported that 7 injured people are in hospital, including five children and two injured teachers.

Police said the attack took place at 9:50 a.m. at Preko Elementary School. They described the attacker as an adult and said he had been taken into custody. Croatia's Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic condemned the attack. He said a 19-year-old student entered the classroom and stabbed a female student in the eye, causing the child's death.

Children were seen running away from the school building.

At the same time, video footage released by the Croatian media shows children running away from the school building. Also, the video shows a medical helicopter landing in the school courtyard. The atmosphere in the entire capital has deteriorated after the attack on the teacher and students by a knife-wielding attacker in the primary school. However, the police have arrested the attacker.

The Health Minister said the attacker was 18 years old.

Zagreb police said the attacker was in police custody and the injured were being treated. Meanwhile, Health Minister Irena Hristic said the attacker was over 18 years old, while some media reported he was 19 years old. Croatia is a small country located in South East Europe.
