China is rapidly strengthening its relations with the Taliban government in Afghanistan. After the US left Afghanistan, China increased its presence in Afghanistan and invested in many projects with the Taliban government.
Afghan Public Works Ministry spokesman Mohammad Ashraf Haqshenas told the media that the first rail transit shipment from China has arrived in Afghanistan via Iran. Haqshenas said that the shipment, which includes 1000 tonnes of iron coils, arrived at Rozanak station in Herat province via Iran's railway line. This move reflects the growing trade in the region between the three countries, as all three countries are considered opponents of the US.
Afghan economy will improve.
A spokesman for the Ministry of Public Works said, "The completion of the Khaf-Herat railway project will create new opportunities for Afghanistan's economy and lay a foundation for expanding trade and transportation in the region." He said the Islamic Emirate's Ministry of Public Works is striving to build infrastructure such as railways to enhance trade and transportation in Afghanistan.
Some experts see the railway as an important step in enhancing Afghanistan's connections with regional countries and emphasize the need for more investment in the sector.
What will be the benefits from railways
Economic expert Abdul Nasir Reshtiya said that Afghanistan is a landlocked country and due to lack of sea, there is no port for trade, so there are always many challenges in trade. Whenever Afghanistan is connected to the global rail network, we will see a significant increase in the country's trade.
Nasir said, "The first advantage of the railway is that a large amount of goods can be transported from one country to another. Secondly, for Afghan traders, rail transport is much cheaper than air and road transport." Earlier, a large consignment of Afghan commercial goods in 55 cars arrived at Hairatan port in Afghanistan directly from China after a 20-day journey through Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
