China has started digging under the mountains to build the world's longest motorway tunnel. It is being built under an ambitious project worth three billion pounds. The tunnel being built under this project is 13 miles long. The Tianshan Shengli Tunnel will cross one of the longest mountain ranges in the world. Through this, people will save some time in commuting.

This tunnel is being built in China's Xinjiang province, which has one of the most diverse and challenging geographical conditions in the world. The construction of this tunnel will reduce travel time as well as improve safety and economic development. The construction of the motorway tunnel will be opened to traffic in October 2025. This tunnel will reduce the travel time through the Tianshan Mountains by about 20 minutes.

This will also reduce the 300-mile journey from Urumqi, a major city in southern Xinjiang, to Korla in less than two hours. Construction on the project began in 2016 and is expected to be completed in 2031.

According to experts, its completion will definitely benefit trade and economic development in the underdeveloped part of Xinjiang. Central Asia offers a fair return-risk mix. It is especially famous for its rich energy reserves. Apart from economic benefits, the tunnel is also going to benefit China greatly in terms of geopolitics.

Through which countries will it pass?

Xi Jinping's government has invested 3 billion pounds for this project. This project will play an important role in promoting the economic development and security of Xinjiang. Xinjiang is an important and strategic region, which borders eight countries, including Russia, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India. This region is located in an important place between Central Asia and South Asia. Its position makes it an important economic, political, and military center.
