Canada and America were a shock, but good news came from Saudi for Indians… work rules changed.

The Donald Trump administration of America has ordered the deportation of about 18 thousand Indians while taking action against illegal immigrants. At the same time, bad news for Indians also came from Canada where the number of students going from other countries to study in Canada in 2025 has been fixed at 5,05,162. Such laws are expected to cause great harm to those Indians who are planning to go to these countries for better life and employment.
Amidst all this, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development of Saudi Arabia has launched a policy which has brought happiness to Indians. A large number of Indians are working in various sectors of Saudi as skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled labour. According to MEA, more than 26 lakh Indians are living in Saudi Arabia.
The ministry on Tuesday launched a new policy to eliminate forced labour. After its implementation, Saudi Arabia has become the first country to take steps towards creating a safe working environment and taking care of the interests of workers coming from other countries. Its implementation will benefit those workers from India who are less educated and are working in the informal sectors of Saudi.
Saudi Arabia is the first GCC member state to ratify the 2014 Protocol to the International Labour Organisation's Forced Labour Convention and has now become the first Arab country to introduce this policy, working towards an international standard to eliminate forced labour.
Forced labor to end in Saudi
The country's national policy takes a comprehensive approach to eliminating forced labour through enforcement and safeguards and providing better protection to victims.
Sattam Al-Harbi, Deputy Minister of Working Environment Control and Development, said in a statement, "The launch of the National Policy to Eliminate Forced Labor is an important milestone for Saudi Arabia. It shows our commitment to creating a safe environment for all people living and working in the country and ensuring that their rights are protected. The launch of the national policy also builds on our ongoing work to protect workers' rights in collaboration with global and local partners."
The policy will also provide legal aid
This policy will provide legal, social and economic support for forced labor victims, as well as focus on ways to aid their recovery and prevent the risk of re-victimization. This national policy is also a part of King Salman's Vision 2030, through which he wants to show the world that Saudi Arabia is no less than developed countries in every respect, from work, living and traveling.
