Three people, including a senior journalist, were killed in a bomb blast targeting a vehicle in Pakistan's restive Balochistan province. Eight people have been injured in this attack. At present, the injured were taken to the hospital, where they are being treated.

Police said a roadside bomb exploded near Chomrok Chowk on the outskirts of Khuzdar city. At the same time, senior journalist and president of Khuzdar Press Club, Maulana Siddiqui Mengal had reached there in his car. Police said that Maulana Mengal and two other passers-by were killed in the blast. Also, eight people were injured.

Maulana Mengal was also the provincial authority of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam. He also used to write articles for a local newspaper. This attack happened on the day of World Press Freedom Day. A police official said it was too early to say whether Mengal was targeted because of his journalism or work as an official of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam.

Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti strongly condemned this attack. Also directed the Inspector General of Police to arrest the criminals as soon as possible.
