The allegation is that Google tried to influence America's elections not once but several times. This news is important for India because 4 out of every 5 internet users in India use Google in some form or the other. In such a situation, the question is whether the way Google has been accused of influencing America's elections, is the same danger present in Indian elections also?

Fox News in America has claimed, based on the study of the Media Research Center, that tech company Google has interfered in American elections 41 times in the last 16 years and tried to influence them. It says that Google's influence has increased rapidly in the last few elections, which is harmful for America's democracy.

• Google helped the candidates of its choice, especially harmed those candidates who were anti-left wing, that is, the candidates who were against the ideology of the left. Efforts were made to defeat such candidates.
• MRC has another big claim in its study. Google officials themselves have admitted that Google used its reach and resources to promote leftist ideology.
• Google has been working for liberal or pro-left ideology since 2008 and after Donald Trump became the President of America in 2016, this work is being done more strongly.
• Media Research Center also gave some examples on its claim. For example, Google favored Barack Obama over John McCain in 2008. In 2012, he again supported Barack Obama over Mitt Romney. In 2016, Google removed auto fill results from its algorithm to protect Hillary Clinton from harm. Whereas this was not done with Trump and Bernie Sanders.

Elon Musk also made allegations

America's big businessman Elon Musk has also become active on the allegations against Google. He posted on X that Google intervenes thousands of times to help the Democrats every election season! This is to be expected when their censorship teams hold very leftist political views.

Google refused to accept the report

Google has refused to accept the Fox News report. Google has said that there is nothing new in this report. Old, baseless and incorrect complaints have been resubmitted. These allegations have failed to be proved in the courts. Politicians make such claims but we have no desire to make our platform biased or inaccurate.

The Election Commission will also monitor the social media campaigning of political parties and candidates. Social media has also been brought under the purview of the Model Code of Conduct.
