Bangladesh: Sanatan community deserves justice…ISKCON condemns the arrest of Chinmay Das

Violence against Hindus is increasing in Bangladesh. ISKCON has been described as a fundamentalist organization. Meanwhile, Bangladesh Sammilto Sanatani Jagran Jot spokesperson Chinmay Krishna Das was arrested at Dhaka airport. Meanwhile, ISKCON Bangladesh has issued a statement condemning the arrest of Chinmay Krishna Das and has appealed to government officials to promote peace. ISKCON Bangladesh has also demanded the government issue a list of violence and attacks against Sanatanis in various areas of the country.

ISKCON said, 'We express our deep concern and strongly condemn the recent arrest of Chinmay Krishna Das, spokesperson of Bangladesh Sammilto Sanatani Jagran Jot. We also condemn the violence and attacks against Sanatanis in various areas of Bangladesh. We appeal to the government authorities to promote peaceful cooperation for Sanatanis.'

It said, 'As a representative of Bangladesh Sammilto Sanatani Jagran Jot and a Bangladeshi citizen, Chinmay Krishna Das has been vocal about the protection of minority groups in the country. It is important to maintain his right to freedom of expression and support his efforts to encourage others to protect this right. It is important to ensure justice and fair treatment for him. Chinmay Krishna Das and the Sanatani community are entitled to justice as citizens of this country and we insist that any kind of discrimination against them should not be tolerated.'

ISKCON placed these demands before the Bangladesh government

ISKCON has placed several demands on the government and the concerned authorities. It said, 'Identify those responsible for the attacks on the Sanatani community and hold them accountable. Protect the civil rights of Chinmay Krishna Das and other Sanatanis. Implement immediate and effective measures to maintain peace and harmony among all communities in the country.'

ISKCON said, 'As a leading Sanatani organization within the Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition, the International Society of Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) in Bangladesh is dedicated to protecting the religious freedom and rights of Hindus, Buddhists, Christians and other minorities. We have consistently appealed to the interim government and other leaders to ensure constitutional protections for minorities and facilitate their full and unhindered participation in society. We appeal to the government and administration to take prompt and effective action in consultation with leaders of the Sanatani community to address these concerns.'

He said, 'Bangladesh is our birthplace and ancestral home. We are proud to be citizens of this country, where many of our acharyas and saints were born. As citizens, we are committed to peaceful cooperation with the present and future governments of Bangladesh. We request the government and authorities to ensure justice for all and allow every citizen to freely practice his religion according to his faith and conscience. ISKCON Bangladesh is dedicated to promoting peaceful cooperation and human values. We hope that the government and the relevant authorities will recognize the situation and take peaceful action to restore harmony and lead the nation towards communal unity.'
