Bangladesh is burning in its own fire, Dhaka University students created uproar throughout the night…Border Guard Force had to be deployed

Bangladesh is now burning in its own fire. The country's capital Dhaka witnessed a ruckus by students overnight. The administration was left helpless to control them, after which the Border Guard Force had to be deployed. Actually, tension increased between the students of Dhaka University (DU) and seven affiliated government colleges and this tension is still continuing. At least five people were injured in the clashes that started at 11 pm.
The clash started when hundreds of students of affiliated colleges staged a sit-in protest at Science Lab Square for about four and a half hours. Their protest was based on five demands put forth before the DU administration. At around 1:30 pm on Sunday night, the protesters marched towards the residence of DU Pro Vice Chancellor Professor Mamun Ahmed and continued their protest in front of Mukti O Gonotrontro Toron at Neelkhet Square.
Police threw sound grenades
According to Bangladesh media, the situation worsened when hundreds of DU students came out of several halls and chased away the protesting students from the Nilkhet Square. Students from affiliated colleges again regrouped and chased the DU students away. By midnight, the police intervened and hurled sound grenades to disperse the crowd and control the escalating situation. Four contingents of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel were deployed to maintain order.
These are the demands of the students

- Ensuring that admissions do not exceed class capacity.
- Considering teacher-student ratio in admission.
- Deduction of marks for wrong answers in the entrance examination.
- Depositing admission fees in an account separate from DU to ensure transparency.
