The protest against the atrocities on Hindus in Bangladesh is no longer limited to India but has started spreading to the whole world. India has been raising the issue of the safety of Hindus in Bangladesh since the fall of Sheikh Hasina. Protests are taking place in the country, and voices are being raised abroad as well. In America, people took to the streets and protested.

About 500 Indian American Hindus held a peaceful protest against the atrocities against Hindus in Bangladesh at the Rana Regan Center in Courtyard Stream, Chicago, Illinois. The same protesting group had also held a peaceful rally two months ago against the violence against Hindus.

Haribhai Patel, President of Indian Seniors of Chicago, welcomed everyone attending the event and explained how Hindu temples are being destroyed and Hindus are being killed in Bangladesh.

Made aware of the situation in Bangladesh

Dr. Ram Chakraborty of Chicago Kali Bari talked about the current situation of Hindus in Bangladesh. He stressed that we were silent in 1948, 1971, and 1975. Even the army and police are picking up young girls and boys and forcibly converting them. Every time Hindus are being targeted. Later he said that we Hindus want a 'Hindu country'.

FIA's Dr. Rashmi Patel said that we should send a message to the US President that this is the biggest Hindu genocide going on in Bangladesh. Hindus across America should contact their Congressmen and Senators on this issue.

“The population of Hindus is decreasing”

Dr. Bharat Barai said that in 1947 the population of Hindus in Pakistan was 12 percent, which has now reduced to 2 to 3 percent. In Bangladesh, it was 33 percent, which has now reduced to 6 percent. Either they are being killed or their religion is being converted and other reasons should also be investigated. However, he has not cited any report while giving this figure.

When Trump can do it, why can't our leaders?

He further said that on behalf of the Hindu community of America, we should appeal to the Indian government to allow all the persecuted Hindus in Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Afghanistan to stay there and send all the Rohingyas and illegal residents back to their country. If President Trump can say that he will send back all the illegal residents, then why are our leaders afraid of doing so? Secularism is becoming one-sided. Apart from this, the people who came to the meeting raised slogans and took a pledge to stand in the interest of Hindus.
