AstraZeneca recalled its vaccine

After questions were raised on the AstraZeneca vaccine, the company has taken a new step. It has said that given the abundance of updated vaccines available since the pandemic, it has taken the initiative to withdraw its COVID-19 vaccine from across the world.

After questions were raised on the vaccine of Britain-based pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca, the company has taken a new step. It has said that given the abundance of updated vaccines available since the pandemic, it has taken the initiative to withdraw its COVID-19 vaccine from across the world. The company also said it would move to withdraw the marketing authorization of the vaccine Vaxjavria within Europe. Recently, AstraZeneca admitted that its Covid vaccine may have side effects related to blood clotting. There was an uproar after this news came out.

AstraZeneca said, 'Since many types of Covid vaccines have been developed, the number of updated vaccines available is high. Due to this, the demand for the Vaxjaveria vaccine has declined. Because of this it is no longer being manufactured or supplied. According to the Telegraph, the company's application to withdraw the vaccine was made on March 5 and became effective on May 7.

AstraZeneca vaccine named Covishield in India

AstraZeneca had joined hands with Oxford University to make the vaccine. Currently, the company is facing a case in a court, in which it has been claimed that its Covid vaccine has caused deaths and serious harm to the people who got it. The UK-based pharma company joined hands with Serum Institute of India (SII), the largest vaccine manufacturer globally, to supply the vaccine to the Indian government. Serum Institute manufactured the vaccine named Covishield.

In India, 80 percent of the people have been given the Corona Covishield vaccine. After the side effects of the vaccine came to light, many questions were raised in the country and attempts were made to corner the central government. Meanwhile, last week a petition was filed in the Supreme Court, demanding the issuance of instructions to form a medical expert panel to investigate the side effects of the Covishield vaccine.

Raised demand for compensation

The petition was filed on behalf of lawyer Vishal Tiwari. He demanded that steps be taken based on AstraZeneca's confession in the petition pending since 2021. Along with this, a committee should be formed under the leadership of a retired judge of the Supreme Court, which should investigate the side effects of Covishield. Apart from this, directors and experts of AIIMS, Institute of Medical Sciences should be included as members of the committee. The petition has demanded that the Central Government should issue instructions to determine the damage caused by the vaccine and arrangements should be made to pay compensation to the victimized citizens.
