Another mountain of troubles falls on Imran Khan, nephew Hassan Niazi sentenced to 10 years in prison

There were riots in Pakistan on 9 May 2023. These riots broke out after the arrest of former PM Imran Khan. Military establishments were also targeted in these. Imran Khan is currently in jail. In this case, his nephew Hassan Niazi has been punished. The court has sentenced him to 10 years of imprisonment.

On Thursday, the Inter-Services Public Relations issued a statement saying that military courts have sentenced 60 people associated with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to two to 10 years of imprisonment. This includes Hassan Khan Niazi, nephew of jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan. Hassan has been sentenced to 10 years for his alleged role in the violent attacks on military installations during the nationwide riots on 9 May 2023.

After examining the evidence, 60 culprits were sentenced

The statement said that after the announcement of the sentence on May 9 as per the Supreme Court's decision, the Field General Court Martial has sentenced 60 convicts after examining all the evidence. The riots broke out on May 9 after the arrest of Imran Khan. Sensitive military installations were attacked. PTI supporters attacked several military installations including the Army Headquarters in Rawalpindi and the ISI building in Faisalabad against the arrest of their party founder.

Sentence in case of attack on Jinnah House residence

After this, hundreds of people were arrested. About 103 people were handed over to the military authorities for trial in cases of attacks on military establishments. On Thursday, the Pakistani army said that Hassan Niazi is also among those convicted. He has been sentenced in the case of an attack on the Jinnah House residence of the Lahore Corps Commander.
