The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has expressed concern over the rapidly deteriorating situation in the Middle East. In its first response to the escalation of tensions in the region, India on Wednesday called on all parties to exercise restraint. It also said that this conflict should not engulf the entire region.

New Delhi said it was deeply concerned about the escalation of tensions in West Asia since the attack. It called for resolving all issues through dialogue and diplomacy. The Ministry of External Affairs said on the social media handle X, "India is deeply concerned at the escalation of tensions in West Asia. Tensions in West Asia are continuously increasing. India has called upon all concerned parties to exercise restraint."

On the situation in the Middle East, the Ministry of External Affairs further said, "It is very important that the conflict does not engulf the entire Middle East region. We request that all issues should be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy." The statement from India has been issued a day after Iran fired about 200 missiles at Israel. This attack on the Jewish country by Iran was in response to the killing of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah and several other commanders of the terrorist group.

MEA advises not to go to Iran

Earlier, given the increasing tension in the Middle East after Iran's attack, the Ministry of External Affairs said that it is keeping a close eye on the situation in the region. The ministry also advised its citizens to avoid all non-essential travel to Iran. Not only this, people living in Iran have also been requested to be cautious and stay in touch with the Indian Embassy in Tehran.
