As soon as he took power, US President Donald Trump has proposed to make changes in Birthright Citizenship. He has signed an executive order to make changes in Birthright Citizenship. Under this, now every child born in America will not be entitled to birthright citizenship. Due to this, people are scared of the decision of Trump and there is a long queue outside hospitals for the delivery of children.

In fact, this order of Donald Trump will come into effect 30 days after signing the executive order, that is, children born after February 20 will not get birthright citizenship of America. Due to this, many families want their children to be born before February 20 and get birthright citizenship.

There was a long queue for delivery.

According to the Times of India report, in a maternity clinic in New Jersey, Dr. SD Rama said that due to Trump's move to change the 14th amendment of the Birthright, there is a long queue for the delivery of premature babies. The doctor said that women are requesting him to deliver their babies before the due date. So that they can deliver before February 20 and their children can get birthright US citizenship.

Dr. Rama said that the majority of the women standing in a long queue outside his clinic are Indian women who are 8 and 9 months pregnant. All the women are demanding to get a C-section done before 20 February. Explaining how scared people are, the doctor said, a woman who is 7 months pregnant and her delivery date is in March, has gone with her husband after signing the documents to get a C-section done before time.

Premature delivery can be a risk

Talking about this race to achieve birthright citizenship in America, Texas gynecologist Dr. SG Mukkala said, I am trying to tell all the couples that even though it is possible to deliver early, doing so is dangerous for both the child and the mother. It can become a challenge for both.

Children may have lung problems, low birth weight, neurological problems. The doctor also said, I have talked to 15 to 20 couples about this in the last two days.

Why is Birthright Citizenship important for people?

Birthright citizenship is a boon for many people living in America. Along with this, it also provides security and a way to stay in the country for Indians. Talking on this matter, a person said, we wanted our child to be born here. Varun has been living in America with his wife on H-1B visa for the last eight years.

The couple said, we have been waiting for our green card for six years. Birthright citizenship was the only way to ensure stability for our family, but we are terrified by the sudden changes. Varun's wife is 34 years old and is going to give birth in early March.

A 28-year-old finance professional said that if his wife gives birth after February 20 and the changes to Birthright Citizenship are in place by then, their plans to stay and work in the country will be disrupted. He further said, we have sacrificed a lot to come to America. Now, it feels like the doors are closing on us.

Trump has taken strict action not only against birthright citizenship but also against illegal immigrants in the country. Trump has said that illegal immigration is a national emergency. Due to this, many people who are living illegally in the country will also be thrown out. An Indian man living in California said about this, he has been living in America for the last 8 years after entering the country illegally, after this he said that my wife is pregnant and our lawyer said that if our child gets birthright citizenship then it will be much better for us to live here.

He said, we thought of seeking asylum in America, but then my wife became pregnant and our lawyer suggested that we would get citizenship directly through our child, but now our problems have increased.

What did Trump announce?

After assuming power in the country, Donald Trump signed an order to change the Birthright policy on January 20. Under this, now all children born in America under the 14th amendment to the Constitution are not entitled to birthright citizenship. Rather, to obtain birthright citizenship, it is necessary for the child's mother or father to be an American citizen.

According to a USA Today report, a Trump official said during a briefing that the government will not recognize automatic birthright citizenship for children of illegal immigrants born in the US.
