US Ambassador to Beijing Nicholas Burns has called China's help to Russia in the Russia-Ukraine war a 'big mistake'. In a speech given at the financial hub center Shanghai, Burns also said that Russia's aggression, which has now reached its third year, has become an existential crisis for Europe.

Joe Biden and Xi Jinping

It is no secret that China is supporting Russia in the Russia-Ukraine war. The US and many western countries have warned China several times on this. Now the US ambassador has reprimanded Xi Jinping while sitting in China. On Wednesday, US ambassador Nicholas Burns said that helping Russia with its technology in missiles and other weapons is a 'big mistake' on the part of China.

In a speech given in Shanghai, China's financial hub, Burns also said that Russia's aggression, which has now reached its third year, has become an existential crisis for Europe. Burns said that we believe that it is a big mistake to allow thousands of Chinese companies to supply technology, microprocessors and nitrocellulose to Russia to strengthen Russia's defense for this cruel war.

'China is not neutral in this war'

Nicholas Burns questioned China's role in the Russia-Ukraine war and said that China is not neutral in this war and is directly on Russia's side. The ambassador said, 'China has effectively supported Russia in this war. Doing so is directly beyond China's stand on sovereignty and territorial integrity. China emphasizes that it does not provide direct military assistance to Russia, but it has maintained strong trade relations with Russia throughout the conflict.'

Big trade between China and Russia

Since the beginning of the Ukrainian war, China and Russia have come closer. China has emerged as Russia's largest trade partner, and is the largest importer of Russian gas and oil. In February 2022, the two countries signed a limitless friendship agreement. Russia has strengthened its trade with China, North Korea, and Iran after Western sanctions and has tried to keep its economy normal during the war.

However, there has been no response from China yet on the US ambassador's comment. Even before this, Nicholas Burns has accused China of violating diplomacy in relations with America.
