America jumped into the war between Israel and Iran, did India ever participate in the war of other countries?
America has also jumped into the growing tension between Iran and Israel. America is openly standing with its friend Israel. The whole world is also watching India's stand in the war-like situation arising between the two countries of the Middle East. Just like it remained neutral in the war between Russia and Ukraine, Israel-Hamas, it remains to be seen whether it will remain neutral in the war between Israel and Iran as well. However, a question also arises here that has India ever participated in the war of other countries before this.
World Wars I and II were two events that changed the course of history forever. So it should come as no surprise that India played a vital role in them. Indian soldiers served with great distinction in both World Wars and earned recognition for their services. Along with manpower, the Indian Army provided logistical support, food supplies and raw materials in both wars.
India's importance was such that in 1941, Field-Marshal Claude Auchinleck, Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army, said that if there was no Indian Army, the British would not have been successful in the First and Second World Wars.
The Indian Army saw action in many places in Europe, the Middle East and Africa during World War I. By the end of 1918, a total of 74,187 Indian soldiers had been killed and 67,000 wounded. The Indian Army fought mostly on the Western Front against the German Empire.
What was India's role in the Second World War?
In the Second World War, India stood against Germany. On behalf of Britain, about two lakh Indian soldiers fought on different fronts in Africa, Europe and Asia. On 1 September 1939, German dictator Adolf Hitler attacked Poland and declared war. Italy, Japan, Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria were with him. On the other side stood the armies of America, Soviet Union, Britain, China, France, Canada, Australia, Belgium, Poland, Yugoslavia, Brazil, Greece, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, South Africa, Mexico, Czechoslovakia and Mongolia.
In this war that lasted for six years, 24 million soldiers from both sides were killed. 49 million civilians lost their lives. America dropped atomic bombs on two Japanese cities, Hiroshima and Nagasaki, on 6th and 9th August 1945. On 15th August 1945, Japan's ruler Hirohito announced Japan's surrender over the radio. After this, Japan surrendered to America on 2nd September 1945. With this, the World War ended.
Famous wars of the world and India's role
When we talk about the world's most famous wars, the Cold War is also included in it. It lasted from 1947 to 1991. It happened after the end of the Second World War. This war was between the US and the USSR. During this time, India did not choose any side between the capitalist block and the communist block and became a leading country of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).
The war between the US and Vietnam is also one of the famous wars of the world. India strongly condemned the US actions during the Vietnam War. It was one of the few non-communist countries to show support for Vietnam. In 1992, India and Vietnam established extensive economic relations, including oil, agriculture and manufacturing.
India's stand was clear in the Gulf War as well. Iraq has been pro-India. Especially when other countries in the region were inclined towards Pakistan. Chandrashekhar was the Prime Minister of India at that time. The Indian government maintained its signed non-aligned stance during the war. However, India refused to link the conflict to the Palestinian issue. Between August and October 1990, the Indian government evacuated more than 1,75,000 Indian citizens from Kuwait.
What will be India's role if there is a Third World War?
At present, there is a war going on on two fronts in the world. One is Russia and Ukraine, the other is Israel and Hamas. The way tension has increased between Israel and Iran, it can also take the form of a war. In such a situation, it will not be surprising if a third world war breaks out. If this happens, there will be two corners of the world. There will be a corner in which there will be those countries that have become a part of the war even though they do not want it. India can also be one of them.
Defense expert and former vice president of Germany's Federal Intelligence Service Rudolf G. Adam has also made a claim about this in the Geographical Information System. Geographical Information System (GIS) is a computer system that collects different types of information on a geographical basis. According to Rudolf, the three parties will look at each other with suspicion and challenge and this can escalate the fight in the future. Western liberal and capitalist countries like America, Canada, UK, Europe, Japan and Australia etc. will be on one side. South Korea will also be in this, because at one time America had helped it a lot.
There is a possibility of developing countries being included in the third camp. India can lead it. The rest of the South Asian countries will also be with it. In such a situation, it can emerge as a leader and lead the third camp. It is very possible that India appeals for peace, which may be heard.
