US President Donald Trump, while speaking to reporters on Air Force One, has put forward his plan to solve the Gaza issue. Trump talked about completely clearing Gaza and settling the Palestinians living there in neighboring Arab countries. He has suggested that neighboring Arab countries should accept Palestinian refugees and 'clean up' the conflict-torn Gaza Strip.

Trump said that for this he has also talked to King Abdullah II of Jordan and will also talk to Egyptian President Fatah al-Sisi about this. Trump said, "I want Egypt and Jordan to settle people here. We are talking about about 15 lakh people, we should clean the entire area. Right now it is a huge mess."

He also said, “It is like a big construction site, where almost everything is destroyed and people are dying there. I think it is better to work together with Arab countries and build houses in a new place so that these people can live in peace.”

Egypt and Jordan reject Trump's idea

Both Egypt and Jordan have rejected the idea of removing Palestinians from Gaza. Jordan's Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi made it clear on Sunday that the country's stance against the removal of Palestinians is not going to change. On Sunday, Egypt's Foreign Ministry also stressed its commitment to protecting the rights of Palestinians and opposing the uprooting of Gaza's population.

Israel accused of ceasefire violation

According to the United Nations, about 1.9 million people, which is more than 90 percent of Gaza's population, have been displaced since the war between Israel and Hamas broke out in October 2023. According to the Gaza Health Ministry, more than 47 thousand Palestinians have died in this 15-month-long war.

Although the two sides signed a ceasefire agreement on January 15, Hamas has since accused Israel of violating the prisoner swap arrangement and Israel is also preventing Gazans from returning home in the northern part of the enclave, with Israeli snipers shooting at Palestinians returning to their homes in the past 48 hours. On Saturday, Hamas handed over four female Israeli soldiers in exchange for the release of 200 Palestinian prisoners.
