Blood Donation is the only source of Blood and thus you should keep donating your blood at least twice a year. Today is World Donor Day, celebrated every year on the 14th of June. On this day, a number of people in the world donate blood and plasma to save other's life.

History of Blood Donor Day
World Blood Donor Day was established in 2004 by the World Health Organization (WHO). It has been planned to set the day through which everyone is well aware of the importance of donating blood.
Along with the birthday of Karl Landsteiner who was Austrian American immunologist, the pathologist is celebrated on 14th June as Blood donor day. In 1930, he won the Nobel prize because of his development and discovery of the ABO blood group system and modern blood transfusion.

WHO has designated the slogan for 2022 Blood Donor day, "‘Donating blood is an act of solidarity. Join the effort and save lives.’
Mexico will host the day through its National Blood Centre in Mexico City.
