3 major attacks in 24 hours! The Balochistan Liberation Army that terrorized Pakistan
There have been several major attacks in different parts of Pakistan in the last 24 hours. More than 70 people are reported to have been killed in these attacks. In Musakhel, Balochistan, people were taken off buses and trucks and asked for their identity and then they were fired upon. So far 23 people have been killed in this attack. According to information, the attackers blocked the national highway in the Rarasham area and started searching vehicles. The attackers also set fire to about 10 vehicles before fleeing.
Apart from this, last night BLA terrorists opened fire in the Kalat district of Balochistan in which 10 people including policemen were killed. This includes a police inspector. The attackers managed to escape amidst the retaliatory action of the police.
Also claimed to have killed 40 Pakistani soldiers
On the other hand, the Balochistan Liberation Army has claimed that they attacked the Bela Military Camp in Turbat and occupied it for several hours. They have claimed that 40 Pakistani soldiers were killed in this attack.
The Balochistan Liberation Army has called it 'Operation Heroof'. BLA spokesperson Zayed Baloch has issued a statement saying that the BLA's Majeed Brigade launched a major attack on the entry gate of the Bela military camp and nearby security checkpoints with two vehicles loaded with explosives. The BLA has claimed that 62 Pakistani soldiers have been killed in this 'Operation Heroof' which began on Sunday evening. According to information, the number of people killed in these attacks may increase.
What is the Balochistan Liberation Army?
It is said that the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) came into existence in Pakistan in the 1970s, although it is claimed that it was officially established in the year 2000. The Balochistan Liberation Army claims that it is fighting for an independent Balochistan. They do not consider Balochistan to be a part of Pakistan but consider it an illegal occupation. According to them, at the time of partition, Balochistan was forcibly included in Pakistan, whereas it should have been an independent country. This is the reason why BLA has been fighting against the Pakistani government and army for a long time. Although there are many rebel organizations demanding independence for Balochistan, BLA is the oldest and strongest group among them.
BLA strongly opposes China
BLA is also against the closeness between Pakistan and China. It has also been opposing the Chinese projects being started in Pakistan. Balochistan is the largest province of Pakistan in terms of area. It shares its border with Iran and Afghanistan. Gas, coal, and copper reserves are found in this area. A large part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor passes through Balochistan. According to information, Pakistan, along with China, is making full use of the resources here, but neither do the local people of Balochistan get employment in these projects nor do they get any economic benefit from it. This is the reason that most of the population of this area, rich in natural resources, is very poor.
Target attacks have increased in the last few years!
This is the second major attack of this kind in Pakistan, earlier in April, in Noshki city of Balochistan, an armed man checked the ID cards of the passengers on the bus and shot dead 9 of them.
According to Pakistani media, such attacks have increased in the last few years. In October last year, an unidentified gunman shot dead 6 laborers from Punjab, Pakistan. Apart from this, in 2019, attackers stopped a bus near Ormara in Gwadar district and killed 14 people. These included personnel of the Pakistani Air Force, Navy, and Coast Guard. A similar attack was carried out in Turbat in 2015 in which a gunman killed 20 construction workers.
