After the martial law in South Korea on December 3, the Defense Ministry said on Monday that more than 1500 soldiers were deployed during the martial law. Meanwhile, a court has started reviewing the impeachment against President Yoon, who unsuccessfully tried to impose martial law.

According to a court spokesperson, Yoon and other officials involved in the martial law are also under investigation. Apart from this, South Korea's ruling party leader Han Dong-hoon announced on Monday that he is resigning from his post and said that he has no regrets about supporting the impeachment of President Yoon Suk Yeol despite criticism from his party.

PM supports impeachment

South Korean PM Han Dong-hoon said, "I am stepping down as the leader of the People Power Party. I sincerely apologize to all those who have suffered due to the emergency martial law incident."

Amid the ongoing turmoil in the country, Han spoke to US President Joe Biden on Sunday and reaffirmed the strength of bilateral relations. In response to the growing tension with North Korea, Han has also instructed the army to increase vigilance against North Korea.

President's problems increased.

President Yoon Suk-Yol's troubles are increasing. After the impeachment, his government powers and responsibilities have been taken away and investigations are going on against him. Yoon is being investigated on charges of treason and betrayal. If he is found guilty, he can be arrested.

Pyongyang's official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said President Yoon Suk-yeol had tried to blame the opposition for the "foolish" emergency martial law declaration. "The rebellion leader puppeteer Yoon Suk-yeol and his associates are under investigation," KCNA said.
