A powerful earthquake was felt in this area in the year 1956. The magnitude of the earthquake that occurred this year was recorded as 7.5 and 7.7. It is being said that after this the earthquake is now in the headlines here.

Due to the earthquake, schools here have been closed, while many people have left their homes and shifted to other cities. Amorgos is known as a tourist destination. About 1 lakh tourists come here every year.
