New Delhi: Date 27th July 2014, the weather was very humid and the time was around 11:30 pm. The place was the Swaroop Nagar area of Kanpur in UP. In the dark of night and a distraught state... a man reaches the police station. On being asked, he says that he was going to a restaurant with his wife to have dinner when four unknown people stopped his car by placing their bikes in front of it. After this, they got him out of the car and beat him up. Later these miscreants fled away with his wife and car.
On hearing about this incident, there was a stir in the police department. The person who had come to the police station with his complaint was none other than Piyush Shyamdasani, the son of a big biscuit businessman in Kanpur. The police immediately swung into action and the search for Piyush's wife began. About 2 hours later, Piyush's wife Jyoti Shyamdasani was found soaked in blood inside the car on Kalyanpur Panki Road.
Jyoti was stabbed to death. Four blows were made on her neck and four on her stomach. This incident shook the whole of Kanpur. Who were those people who killed Jyoti so brutally? If they intended to rob, then why did they leave the car on the spot? There were many questions and the mystery of the Jyoti murder case was entangled in these questions.
How was the mystery of Jyoti's murder solved?
While trying to find clues to Jyoti's killers, the police first suspected her husband Piyush. The circumstances of the crime scene indicated that something was wrong. How did the killers know that these two were going to come from the same route at night and what could be the reason for killing Jyoti instead of Piyush?
The police detained Piyush based on suspicion and when he was questioned strictly, he broke down. He confessed his crime and told the whole story. Piyush was behind Jyoti's murder. He had given a contract killer in the name of his wife to carry out this murder. And... the reason for the murder was Piyush's illicit relationship with a woman.
A phone call revealed Piyush's secret
The whole story was something like this- Piyush Shyamdasani was the son of a big biscuit businessman in Kanpur. He had a good business and a beautiful wife like Jyoti. But, meanwhile, Piyush started an affair with the daughter of another businessman. Both of them would talk on the phone for hours. One day when Piyush's girlfriend called him to tell him about her engagement, Jyoti coincidentally picked up the phone and heard everything she said.
Jyoti scolded Piyush's girlfriend on the phone and from here the script of her murder started being written. Actually, after listening to Jyoti's scolding, Piyush's girlfriend told him that now she cannot tolerate it anymore, and remove his wife from the way so that both of them can be together forever. After this, Piyush started planning to murder Jyoti.
Piyush's plan failed twice
Four people were chosen for this task. Piyush's girlfriend's driver Avdhesh, Renu Kanaujia, Sonu and Ashish. According to the plan, on 13 July 2014, Piyush had to take his wife Jyoti away from home on some pretext, where these four would kill her. However, it rained heavily on 13 July and Piyush's plan was ruined.
Now 20th July was chosen as the day to murder Jyoti, but it rained heavily on that day too and despite his wishes, Piyush could not take her out of the house. Finally, on the 27th of July, Piyush succeeded in his aim. On the pretext of taking Jyoti to a restaurant, he took her along and drove his car towards Kalyanpur Panki Road.
These were Jyoti's last words...
After going some distance, Avdhesh, Sonu, Renu and Ashish quickly overtook the car on their bike. On seeing these people, Piyush stopped the car and opened the window to get out. By then Jyoti also realized that something wrong was going to happen to her. She told Piyush that you are not doing good. Jyoti caught hold of Piyush and tried to stop him.
In this attempt, some of Piyush's hair broke and came into Jyoti's hands. Some buttons of his t-shirt also broke, but Piyush did not have mercy on Jyoti. After this, the four murderers kidnapped Jyoti and fled from the spot with the car. After some distance, these four stabbed her to death and fled leaving the body in the car.
Talked on the phone 18 times on the night of the murder
After questioning Piyush, the police also arrested his girlfriend, Awadhesh, Renu, Sonu and Ashish. During the court hearing, it was revealed that on the night of Jyoti's murder, Piyush and his girlfriend had talked on mobile 18 times. Not only this, about 6 months before the murder, 5500 calls and 2800 messages were exchanged between these two.
The lower court held all these 6 people guilty of Jyoti's murder and conspiracy and sentenced them to life imprisonment. Later the case went to Allahabad High Court, where in the verdict given this year, Piyush's girlfriend was acquitted. Earlier she was found guilty of being involved in the conspiracy. However, the punishment of Piyush and the other four convicts has been upheld.
