According to the Meteorological Department report, the low-pressure area formed over West Central Bay of Bengal moved towards west-south-west and extended from southwest, west-central Bay of Bengal to south Andhra Pradesh-north Tamil Nadu coasts. Today, on December 24, it is likely to move towards west-south-west and reach the southwest Bay.

IMD gave warning
The second snowfall of the season in Shimla resulted in 3 inches of snow accumulation on the roads. Snowfall occurred in Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, Yamunotri and Hemkund Sahib in Uttarakhand and Munsiyari in Kumaon. The cold wave has intensified in Jammu and Kashmir. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted rain snowfall and severe cold for the next 7 days till December 31.

Due to its effect, light rain will occur at isolated places in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan today.
Chance of snowfall
Due to its effect, there is a possibility of sporadic rain and snowfall in the western Himalayan region between 27 and 29 December. There is also a possibility of sporadic to heavy rain with thunder and lightning in the plains on 27 and 28 December. There will be rain in North West India and adjoining Central India on 27 December. There is a possibility of hailstorms along with thunderstorms in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Western Uttar Pradesh between 26 and 28 December.
Cold wave and fog alert here
According to the Meteorological Department, cold wave may continue in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh till December 26. Till December 30, dense fog may prevail in various parts of Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Bihar, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Rajasthan. There will be frost on the ground in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Northeast India.
