Will be shot from April: Rs 5000 will have to be paid for the renewal of registration of 15 years old vehicles
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways on Tuesday issued a notification regarding incentives and disincentives regarding the National Vehicle Junk Policy. In this policy of the government, vehicle owners will be encouraged to discard their old and polluting vehicles in the junk.
The central government has decided to increase the fee for the renewal of registration of 15-year-old vehicles by eight times from April 2022. The central government wants to stop the old and polluting vehicles, hence the fee has been increased.
The Ministry of Road, Transport, and Highways on Monday issued a notification to implement the new system from next year. However, the new rule will not have any effect on the vehicle owners of Delhi NCR. There is already a ban on diesel vehicles older than 10 years and petrol vehicles that are 15 years old.
The government has increased the fee for the renewal of registration of cars or passenger vehicles older than 15 years by up to eight times. The fee for the renewal of fitness certificates of commercial vehicles has also been increased by eight times. It has been said in the notification that the renewal of registration of a 15-year old car will attract Rs 5000 instead of Rs 600 from April 2022. The new rule is part of the government's national vehicle junk policy. From April, the fee for fitness certificates for buses or trucks older than 15 years will be eight times more.
Such increased duty on these vehicles
Old bike: The fee for renewal of registration of two-wheeler will be Rs 1000 instead of Rs 300.
Imported bikes and cars: Rs 10,000 for renewal of registration of such bikes and Rs 40,000 for cars.
Bus-truck fitness: Instead of Rs 1500 it will cost Rs 12,500.
Delay in renewal: Delay in the renewal of the registration of private vehicles will attract a penalty of Rs.300 per month.
Commercial Vehicles: Delay in the renewal of registration of such vehicles will attract a penalty of Rs.500.
Delay in fitness certificate: Delay in renewal will attract a fine of Rs 50 per day.
Rs 200 extra on taking smart card
According to the notification, these rules will be called the Central Motor Vehicles (23rd Amendment) Rules 2021. These will be deemed to be applicable from 1st April 2022. If the registration card is like a smart card, then an additional Rs 200 will be charged.
