Mumbai Police arrested Dawood Ibrahim's close associate Danish Merchant alias Danish Chikna in the drugs case. Know who Danish Chikna is and what big revelations he made in the Dongri drug racket case.

The Mumbai police on Friday arrested Dawood Ibrahim's close aide Danish Merchant, also known as Danish Chikna, in a drugs case. Merchant, who used to manage Dawood's drug operations in Dongri, was arrested along with his associate Kader Ghulam Sheikh.

Arrests follow months of investigation

According to sources, Merchant was a wanted accused in the case. His arrest came after months of intense investigation. The investigation began last month when two persons, Mohammed Ashikur Sahidur Rahman and Rehan Shakeel Ansari, were arrested.

Beginning of arrests 

On November 8, Rehman was caught with 144 grams of drugs near Marine Lines station. During interrogation, he said that the drugs were bought from Rehan Ansari of Dongri. After this, the police arrested Ansari and recovered 55 grams of drugs from him.

Drugs network exposed 

Ansari's interrogation revealed that these drugs were supplied by a Danish Merchant and his associate Kader Fanta. Based on a tip-off, the police arrested Merchant and Fanta in a planned operation in Dongri on December 13. During interrogation, both of them admitted their involvement in the drug racket.

Old cases and Danish's background 

In 2019, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) raided Dawood Ibrahim's drug factory in Dongri. At that time, drugs worth crores were seized and Merchant was arrested in Rajasthan. After being released from jail recently, he had started the drug racket again.

Police statement 

Mumbai Police says that this action is a major success in uprooting Dawood's drug network. Legal proceedings are underway against Merchant and his associate, and the police are also searching for other suspects. This arrest is considered a major success in the ongoing campaign of Mumbai Police against drugs.
