According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), due to the collision of an active Western Disturbance and eastern winds, rain and thundershowers are occurring in northwest and central India. The Meteorological Department says that after this rain, the cold will increase further.
Temperatures are likely to drop further
IMD scientist Naresh Kumar said that currently, the western disturbance is active in Punjab and its adjoining areas. Due to this, there is a possibility of a further drop in temperature in Delhi-NCR, Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan for the next two days.
The IMD has issued a hailstorm alert in Delhi and many other areas of North India. An 'orange' alert has been issued for Delhi on Friday, while a 'yellow' alert has been issued on Saturday and Sunday.
Rain alert
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rain alert for many parts of North India. This includes Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh, West Madhya Pradesh and East Rajasthan.
Cold wave will continue in the New Year
The Meteorological Department says that the cold wave will continue in North India till the New Year. People have been advised to remain alert due to rain, snowfall and dense fog. Cold conditions (cold wave) may form again at the beginning of next week. The effect of cold will be felt with cold nights.
