Villagers got angry after seeing the bulldozer, chased and beat up two accountants, FIR against 30; Story of Farrukhabad riot.

In Uttar Pradesh's Farrukhabad, the district administration bulldozed the houses built on the land of the village community within two days. A total of 25 houses were demolished. These families had been living here for more than 50 years. People are so angry with the bulldozer action that on Monday, the villagers chased and beat up two Lekhpals. Angered by this, the Lekhpals' organization started a protest demanding registration of a case against those who beat them up.

They also alleged that the villagers did all this in the presence of the police. Still, the police kept watching all this as spectators. The police have taken action on this. The incident took place in Ukhra village of Nawabganj police station area. According to the information, on Saturday and Sunday, the district administration team demolished many houses built on government land by running a bulldozer. The villagers are angry about this.

Some BJP leaders reached the village on Monday. When the BJP leaders were talking to the people along with Police Circle Officer Arun Kumar and Police Station Incharge Balraj Bhati, some villagers got furious and attacked the Lekhpal Rudra Pratap Singh and Saurabh Pandey present on the spot. Both the Lekhpals got injured in this. People even tore the clothes and files of both of them. Later the police somehow dispersed the crowd and controlled the situation.

In protest against this incident, the officials of the Lekhpal Sangh started a sit-in protest at the Nawabganj police station. District President of the Lekhpal Sangh, Ajit Dwivedi said - Our colleagues were brutally beaten and injured and their records were snatched away. Their sit-in will continue until a case is registered against the accused of the assault and they are arrested. The police took action on this and registered an FIR against 30 people.

According to ADM Subhash Chandra Prajapati, all the houses were built on the land of the Gram Panchayat. This land has been given to the Electricity Corporation to build a Green Energy Corridor. The villagers first filed a case in the Tehsildar's court and later in the District Magistrate's court. When the decision there was not in their favor, an appeal was also made in the High Court. Action has been taken after the appeal was rejected there too.

The land selected for the Green Energy Corridor was occupied by the villagers. The administration said that notices were issued to everyone to remove the illegal construction. On receiving the notice, the villagers filed a case in the District Magistrate's court. The villagers also lost the case. Despite this, they did not move from there. The process of acquiring one and a half acres of land has been started to build the Green Energy Corridor. These houses also came under the scope of the land that was acquired. Therefore, the administration demolished these houses.

When the houses were bulldozed, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav had strongly condemned it. He had written on 'X', "This is the ugly face of BJP politics full of vengeance. BJP finds pleasure in demolishing settled houses. Those who have not settled their own houses, I don't know what they take revenge for by demolishing the houses of others. With every house falling, BJP falls even lower."

Supreme Court order

The Supreme Court, while hearing petitions against bulldozer action in various states, had passed an interim order on September 17. According to this, no property should be demolished in the country without its permission. However, the court had also clarified that this order would not apply in cases of encroachment on public roads, footpaths, railway lines, or other public places.
