Two youths from another community gangraped an 8th grade student, the victim's family staged a sit-in protest at the police station
Baghpat. A case of gang rape of an 8th standard student has come to light in Baghpat district of Uttar Pradesh. It is being told that two youths of another community gang raped a minor girl. They have also been accused of pressuring her for conversion. The victim's family has alleged that two youths trapped her and gang raped her.
The incident took place in a village in Baghpat Kotwali area. The victim's family said that their 15-year-old daughter suddenly went missing around 7 pm on Saturday evening. When the search was conducted, the daughter was found in an objectionable situation with Rizwan in a room of neighbour Wasim's house. After this, Rizwan and his companions brought the victim home threatening her and challenged the victim's family there with sticks.
The victim told her family that Rizwan and Wasim trapped her and raped her several times. It is alleged that Rizwan forced her to convert to Islam and tried to run away from home. Apart from this, Rs 48 thousand cash and a gold ring also disappeared from the victim's house, which is alleged to be with Rizwan.
The victim also said that Waseem called her to his house on the pretext of giving her a washed room, where Rizwan and Waseem gang-raped her. The victim's family accused the police of protecting Waseem and staged a sit-in protest at the police station along with activists of Hindu organisations.
The protest ended when CO Harish Bhadoria assured action. The police have arrested one of the accused youth and the investigation into the case is ongoing. The victim's family has warned that they will continue the protest until Wasim is arrested.
