There is severe cold in North India, due to which people are in a bad condition. Dense fog is affecting vehicles and flights. The temperature has dropped due to rain. A new western disturbance will again affect North-West India, due to which there is a possibility of rain in many states. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert regarding this.
According to the IMD, a western disturbance is located over northern Pakistan as a cyclonic circulation, while a cyclonic circulation lies over south Haryana, due to which many states received rain on January 16. A new western disturbance is likely to affect northwest India from January 18 and another disturbance will become active from January 22, which may lead to sporadic rain and snowfall in the western Himalayan region during January 18 to 22. UP, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Rajasthan will be cloudy on January 21-22.
Clouds will rain with strong thunder in these states
According to the Meteorological Department, a cyclonic circulation is located over the southeast Arabian Sea off the south Kerala coast, due to which moderate to heavy rains are expected in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry from January 18 to 20 and in Kerala on January 19-20. There is also a possibility of lightning along with strong thunder. Heavy rains were recorded in the Nicobar Islands on January 16.

In the plains of the country, Nagaur in Rajasthan recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 3.7 degrees Celsius. Minimum temperatures are below zero degrees Celsius in many parts of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. Temperatures of 1-4 degrees were recorded in some parts of Himachal Pradesh, 15 to 20 degrees Celsius in northwest India. Minimum temperatures are likely to fall by 2-3 degrees Celsius during the next 2 days over northwest India, while minimum temperatures will rise by 2-3 degrees Celsius over Gujarat region during the next 3 days. However, there will be no significant change in minimum temperatures over central and eastern India and Maharashtra region during the next 5 days.
Dense fog alert issued
According to IMD, dense to very dense fog is likely to continue in North-West India for the next 2 days. Dense to very dense fog is likely to persist in UP, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura during night and morning hours on January 17-20. Dense fog will prevail in Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Sikkim, Odisha till January 18, Madhya Pradesh till January 19. Cold wave conditions are likely to prevail in Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan.
