He has been kept in an underground transparent jail whose windows are made of bulletproof glass and the door is made of steel. And he has been sentenced to stay in this jail till his death. This crime story is of a serial killer who is so dangerous that other prisoners are not even allowed to meet him.
Robert Maudsley... this is the name of the serial killer who is serving his sentence in solitary confinement in Britain's Wakefield Jail. The horror with which he has killed people makes one's heart tremble. Robert is now 71 years old. He was put in jail in 1974 when the court held him guilty of murdering a man named John Farrell, who was a child molester.
Ran away from home and became a male prostitute
While in prison, Robert murdered three more people. He killed one of them by inserting a spoon into his brain. After this, Robert was banned from meeting other prisoners. Now he spends all his time in a small transparent room, which has been his home for many years.
Robert was born in Liverpool. He spent his life in a Catholic orphanage until the age of eight. Then he started living with his parents, where he was treated very violently. At the age of 16, Robert ran away from home and got addicted to drugs. To meet his expenses, he started working as a male prostitute.
When the corpse had to be named 'Blue'
Among his clients was a man named John Farrell, who sexually abused children. One day John showed Robert the pictures of the children he had sexually abused. Robert got enraged after seeing the pictures and killed John. The murder was done in such a brutal manner that John's face turned blue and the police named the deceased 'Blue'.
For this murder, Robert was sentenced to life imprisonment in 1974 and was sent to a prison where notorious and dangerous criminals were kept. These included criminals like Peter Sutcliffe and Charles Bronson. In 1977, Robert came to know that there was also a prisoner named David Francis in this prison, who was convicted of child sexual abuse.
The prisoner was tortured and killed for 9 hours
Now Robert, along with one of his fellow prisoners, locked himself in a cell with David Francis. He beat David for about 9 hours in the cell and when other prisoners broke the door, David was dead. After this, Robert was sent to Wakefield Jail in Yorkshire.
But, even here his bloody hands did not stop and a year later he committed another murder. In this jail, there was a prisoner named Salini Darwood, who was sentenced for the murder of his wife. When Robert came to know about this, he went to meet Salini in her cell and strangled her to death. After this, he attacked her with a knife and hid the body under the bed.
Today there are two fewer people in jail...
On the same day, Robert committed another murder. Actually, he had come to know that there was a prisoner named Bill Roberts who had sexually assaulted a seven-year-old girl. With the help of his companions, Robert somehow got an axe and chopped off his skull. The news of the murder of these two prisoners reached the jail security personnel only when Robert himself told them about it.
In the evening after the murder, Robert told a security guard that there were two fewer people in the jail today, so cook less food. On hearing this, there was a stir among the jail officials and arrangements were made to keep Robert in isolation. For this, work began to build a special cell with a glass cage in the basement of the jail and it was ready by 1983.
I was buried alive in a coffin...
The cell prepared for Robert has large bulletproof windows and a table and chair made of paperboard. His toilet and sink are attached to the floor. The entry gate is through a steel door, which opens into a small cage covered in thick Perspex. It has a small slot at the bottom through which he is fed.
After being kept in this cell, Robert wrote a letter saying that staying here feels like he has been buried alive in a coffin. He asked the court for a TV in his cell and wrote that if the TV could not be given, then he would ask for a cyanide capsule. He wrote that he would eat this capsule of his own free will.
Sometimes I asked for death and sometimes I asked for a pet parrot.
In the year 2000, Robert requested the court to allow him to die. When this demand was not accepted, he asked for a pet parrot for himself. In his letter, he promised that he would love the parrot and would not kill and eat it. It was really surprising that a serial killer was asking for all this as his last wish.
At the same time, Robert's family members defend him. His nephew Gavin Maudsley said in a conversation with a channel that Robert had told him that he would kill those who sexually abuse children. Gavin said that he is not supporting his uncle because he did very bad things. But, he did not kill any child or woman. The people he killed were really bad people.
