Gumla News: A heart-wrenching incident came to light on Wednesday in Korambi village under Dumardih Panchayat of Gumla Sadar police station area. 60-year-old Buddheshwar Oraon of the village was beaten up and thrown into a burning pyre alive. The old man kept shouting for help. But no one gathered the courage to save him. People fled from the cremation ground. The old man died a painful death in a short while.

The old man had gone for cremation

On Wednesday, an old woman from the village, Mangri Oraon, died after drowning in a well. She was taken to Tongri Indra, adjacent to the village, for cremation. Buddheshwar Oraon, who works as an exorcist, was also present at the cremation. Suddenly, the deceased's brother Jhadi Oraon and son Karampal Oraon attacked Buddheshwar Oraon with a tangi. Then they dragged him and threw him into the burning pyre of Mangri Oraon.

Many villagers fled in fear

Seeing the old man screaming, many villagers ran away in fear. After the cremation, everyone returned home. But Buddheshwar did not reach. He was searched for. The villagers informed his son Jhadia Oraon about the incident. At first, Jhadia did not believe it. But when he did not find his father, he reached the cremation ground. He was shocked after reaching there. Most of his father's body had been burnt.

The police were also shocked after getting information about the incident

Jhadia informed the police. Police have started investigating the case. A forensic team has been called from Ranchi for investigation. Villagers said that Buddheshwar Oraon used to do an exorcism. Police were also shocked to know about the incident. This incident was carried out due to superstition. On the statement of the deceased's son Jhadia Oraon, police has registered a case of murder against Jhadi Oraon and Karampal Oraon.

One accused arrested

On Thursday, the police reached the village and inquired about the whole matter. The main accused Jhadi Oraon, brother of the deceased, has been arrested by the police. Other accused in the case are absconding. The police are continuously conducting raids. The remains of the body were brought to Gumla on Thursday evening. Forensic investigation will be done on it. Jhadia Oraon, son of Buddheshwar Oraon, said that the reason for the brutal murder is beyond comprehension. There was neither a land dispute nor any other dispute with that family.
